RESTORATION TODAY
TEUSDAY 23RD MAY 2017
BY PASTOR DR. G.O. OLUTOLA JP
THEME: REBUKING THE DEVIL.

And the Lord said to satan, The Lord rebuke you, satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire  Zechariah 3: 2.

In this vision of Zechariah, the angel of the Lord was standing on one side of Joshua the high priest and satan was standing on the other side. The Lord said to satan The Lord rebuke thee, oh satan.

It is difficult to understand the problem of those people today who want to get into big conversation with the demons or satan and will authoritatively say I rebuke you satan. Jesus is the one who rebuked satan here saying The Lord rebuke thee, oh satan. We see the same thing happening in the New Testament in the book of Jude. Michael the archangel was contending with the devil and dare not bring a reviling accusation against him but said The Lord rebuke thee.

If Michael did not say I rebuke you to satan but instead said The Lord rebuke you. It will then be outrageous for me to presumptuously say I rebuke you. What if he says, who are you? and what authority do you have to rebuke? Don't get me wrong, we can stand on the authority of Jesus Christ to move mountains but it has to be in the name of Jesus under whose authority every knee must bow.

It is therefore wise for me to let the Lord to do the rebuking of satan for me by committing it into His hand.
