THEME: VENTURES IN FAITH.

Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few. 1 Samuel 14: 6.

The children of Israel were severely outmanned by the Philistines. The Philistines had metal weapons while the Israelites were limited to more primitive tools. The odds were greatly against them, but Jonathan had this idea he shared with his armor bearer. Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few?.

He was basically saying if God wants to wipe them out, He can do it with just one man as easily as with army. I have this understanding that God does not need people at all to fight a battle, so if He is for us, he doesn't need the whole army to win His battles. The Lord is a man of war, the Lord is His name. Pharaoh's chariot and his host hath He cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the red sea?. It is no problem for God to work with many or few or nothing.

How are we going to find out if God wants to work By venturing out in faith. To me, that is exciting and I do it all the time. I step out in faith to see what God might want to do. I live there are those times when God doesn't want to do something exciting; and I love making myself available, just in case it is one of those times.
